There is no single place to visit in Langkawi that you can acknowledge as the best Langkawi attraction. Langkawi is a paradise of an archipelago of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea. It is about 30 km off the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia and is a part of the state of Kedah.
It is officially known as The Jewel of Kedah.
The whole Langkawi is a big attraction. You can’t go wrong with any plan. Even lying lazily on the beach is relaxing.

Langkawi Cable Car
Langkawi cable car ride is a place to visit in Langkawi that you can’t afford to miss. The entrance of the cable car is at The Oriental Village. It is at the northwest of Langkawi Island, near Pantai Kok.
The Langkawi cable car will take you up to Mount Mat Cincang, the second-highest peak in Langkawi. The ride takes you to a height of 708 meters in about 15 minutes. You will experience the steepest cable car gradient in the world.
There are two viewing platforms at the top station. You can enjoy a grand 360-degree picturesque view of Langkawi.
That is not the main attraction. You should be looking for the Skybridge at the top station. The Langkawi Skybridge, a magnificent 125-meter curved suspension bridge hangs at an altitude of about 700 meters from the sea level.
A single 82-meter tower-like structure in the centre supports the Skybridge. It keeps the bridge suspended in an open space alongside the peak of Mount Mat Cincang.
A great achievement of engineering works.
The Langkawi cable car ride and the Skybridge will be one of the most memorable thrills you will ever experience. You will enjoy the stunning and breathtaking views of the mountains, islands and the Andaman Sea.
I don’t think you want to go back down. You will be mesmerized.
Kilim Geopark Mangrove Tour
Another Langkawi attraction that you must visit. Langkawi is not only famous for its popular beaches, resorts and tax-free shopping. It is also a well-known eco-tourism paradise with miles of unspoiled and beautiful rainforest to explore.
Langkawi is the first UNESCO Geopark in Southeast Asia. UNESCO awarded the status of World Geopark to Langkawi in June 2007. Three of its main conservation areas in Langkawi Geopark are Machincang Cambrian Geoforest Park, Kilim Karst Geoforest Park, and Dayang Bunting Marble Geoforest park.
Sprawling mangrove forests and enormous limestone rock formations cover most of Kilim Geoforest Park. Taking a guided boat ride in the Kilim river is the best way to explore its beauty. Most of the tours will start from the Kilim Jetty. It is about 20 minutes from Kuah Town. You will go through a dense wetland mangrove on one side and gigantic limestone rocks on the other, to the open waters.
You can spot mud crabs, squirrels, monkeys, monitor lizards, otters and crocodiles. Dolphins as well if you are lucky.
There are also many species of birds you can see here. Among them are the kingfishers, brahmini kite, white-bellied sea eagles and the most majestic reddish-brown eagles.
The reddish-brown eagle is the large sculpture of an eagle you can find at Dataran Lang in Kuah town. That is another attraction to visit in Langkawi.
The main highlight of the Kilim Geopark Mangrove Tour is the eagle feeding. You will see eagles diving in from the sky, grab the foods that are thrown by your guide and take off. You will never see so many eagles swarming and flying around in just one place, anywhere else. A unique encounter only at Kilim Geoforest Park.
With an abundance of natural wonders, you should not miss the Geopark experience. You get to appreciate nature here.
Island Hopping In Langkawi
Island hopping in Langkawi is one of the most popular activity. Since you will be outside most of the time, don’t forget your sunscreen and sunglasses.
Usually, the island hopping in Langkawi will start with Pulau Dayang Bunting (pregnant maiden, in English). The island resembles the silhouette of a reclined pregnant lady from a distant.
Pulau Dayang Bunting, the second biggest island on the archipelago, is the highlight of the island hopping tour. A trip to Langkawi Island is not complete without enjoying the beautiful scenery of the beautiful Pulau Dayang Bunting. The boat ride and trekking to the lake are worth it when presented with stunning and beautiful natural scenery.
The island has a freshwater lake which is not salty, although very close to the sea. It is famous for its mystery.
According to folklore, Prince Mat Teja fell in love with a divine Princess Mambang Sari, who love to bathe there. They got married and had a son, who sadly died because of the mixed marriage.
Before returning to heaven, she left her son in the water to rest in peace and cast a protection spell. Locals believe that any barren women will be able to conceive after taking a dip in the lake due to that spell.
Next stop in the island-hopping itinerary is Pulau Beras Basah. It is a pristine Langkawi beach with clear waters and far-reaching views of the open sea.
The island-hopping tour with a stop at Pulau Singa Besar before heading back. Pulau Singa Besar is a wildlife sanctuary. You can spot eagles, monkeys, mousedeer, hornbills, snakes, monitor lizards, and peacocks.
Many years back, we had the opportunity to camp on this island. It was a great experience. You must bring your food. Fishing or hunting is not allowed as the island is protected by the Fisheries Department of Kedah.
There you go. From the steepest Langkawi cable car ride to the mysterious Pulau Dayang Bunting island hopping, there are so many attractions in Langkawi.
There is no single place to visit in Langkawi that you can declare as the best Langkawi attraction.
